There’s a new service in town, that’s like Zipcar for apartments. Called “Breather”, it’s a mobile or web-based app that lets you find, reserve, pay for and unlock space for rent by the hour or day.
These rooms are scattered in prime locations throughout New York City (and Montreal, Quebec if you’re doing business in “la belle province”), such as in SoHo and the Flatiron, Penn Station and MSG areas. More locations will be added soon.
According to Packy McCormick, NYC City Manager, each space is equipped with free WiFi, a desk, couch, chairs even a yoga mat and is cleaned after every use.
Patrons are using the spaces for client meetings, naps, a private workout or just a quiet “breather” from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cost of renting in New York is $25 an hour with the first hour on the house. You can rent for 30 minutes or an entire day.
